Job Opening: Communications & Development Coordinator

About HOI

HOI is a Christ-centered mission organization working alongside people of developing countries who desire to implement sustainable development partnerships. We organize mission trips to Honduras and Nicaragua.

Our vision is to create life-changing relationships between the people of developing countries and North Americans, while promoting community-directed and integrated spiritual, physical, educational and economic development of men, women and children in the developing world through the promotion of dignity, mutual cooperation and self-sufficiency.

Position

Reporting to and in cooperation with the HOI Executive Director, the Communications and Development Coordinator will develop and implement communications and development efforts for HOI in the Tucker, Georgia office. The position is full-time.

Responsibilities

Communications:

• Direct and manage all marketing and communications efforts, including creating digital and print communications
• Create professional email and Google ad campaigns
• Update and maintain organization’s website with an orientation toward SEO, including blog, photo galleries, and relevant program-related content
• Manage organization’s social media presence, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
• Translate documents between English and Spanish
• Distribute mission trip evaluation forms to volunteers
• Boost organization’s visibility by representing HOI at relevant Christian and/or missions conferences
• Collaborate with Central American colleagues and North American volunteers to create compelling content for organization’s blog, newsletter, and fundraising campaigns

Development:

• Direct and manage fundraising initiatives such as year-end fundraising campaigns
• Update and maintain donor and volunteer information in GiftWorks database
• Monitor online donations
• Assist with research and writing of grant proposals
• Coordinate fundraising events such as annual golf tournament
• Prepare and distribute gift acknowledgement letters

Other:

• Occasional travel (1-3 trips annually) to HOI’s ministry sites in Central America to translate for visiting North American volunteer teams
• Provide occasional administrative support to CEO and Executive Director, as necessary

Skills/Requirements

• Follower of the Christian faith
• Bachelor’s degree
• Spanish language fluency (written and verbal)
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent at multi-tasking
• Able to work well within a team and assume leadership when necessary
• Self-motivated and willing to take initiative
• Experience in marketing and fundraising
• Experience in Adobe Creative Suite and MailChimp is preferred but not required
