U.S. Families Volunteer Together in Honduras
Families and students from two different regions in the U.S. shared a spring break to remember during April’s inaugural “Family Trip” to Rancho el Paraiso. The four families on the trip, while hailing from different states, quickly became a cohesive team ready to work in the village of San Martin Arriba.
While in Honduras, they enjoyed a trip to a local cave, work projects, and Vacation Bible School in the village. The North American youth bonded with local children through games, songs, and dancing. HOI’s Honduran staff introduced the families to life at the ranch, teaching the kids how to milk cows and rope calves. Britt Hammond, who has participated on Honduras mission trips with his wife Tamara six times, stated that “The best part of the week was sharing the experience with my wife and three children.”
The 2014 Honduras Family Trip is open to adults of all ages and children ages 10 and older accompanied by an adult relative. Family-friendly pricing will be offered. You may also organize your own Honduras Family Trip during a week of your choice, subject to space availability. For more information, please contact Laurie Willing.
