WHO TRAVELS WITH HOI?
Groups ranging from 10 – 50 individuals volunteer with HOI in Honduras or Nicaragua. These may be churches, families, athletic teams, professional groups and more. Mission team volunteers must be at least 13 years old to participate if accompanied by an adult relative of the same sex (or 10 years old if accompanied by an adult relative on a Family Week trip).
WHERE ARE MY OPTIONS?
Mission teams have a choice of traveling to any of our three site locations:
(1)Rancho el Paraiso/Olancho, Honduras (Our primary site in the Agalta Valley)
(2) San Lorenzo, Honduras
(3) Los Robles, Nicaragua

WHEN ARE TRIPS AND FOR HOW LONG?
Mission trips are available year-round. Trip length can vary, but most service trips are 8 days (Saturday to Saturday).
WHAT IS THE COST?
The cost of participating in a mission trip to Honduras is $800 per person and $1200 per person to Nicaragua, and includes all costs except airfare. There is also a $1,000 fee per group to cover work materials.
HOW DO VOLUNTEERS SERVE?
Mission trip volunteers work alongside local villagers to complete projects to improve health and well being of the community. These projects can include building latrines, chimneys, water connections and more. Additionally, volunteers have the opportunity to teach Bible schools to the children of each village and meet with families who have requested prayer. We encourage medical professionals to use their skills in the villages as well.
WHO DO VOLUNTEERS INTERACT WITH WHILE ON A TRIP?
Each group is met at the airport by members of our bilingual staff who accompany volunteers throughout the mission trip. Groups are assigned a village to serve alongside by HOI staff or partners. Teams come to know members of the community, from village elders to young children. Volunteers often find that seeing through the eyes of their new Central American friends is the most meaningful aspect of their trip, and many of these relationships continue year after year.
WHAT IS THE IMPACT ON VOLUNTEERS?
Our volunteers are challenged through their mission trip experiences in ways as diverse as the volunteers themselves. No matter the lesson learned, participants return energized with a passion for serving and sharing the Gospel.

PROVIDE AN EDUCATION
HOI believes that the pathway towards prosperity begins with the opportunity for a quality education. With your support we are able to provide approximately 250 students in the Agalta Valley with stepping stones for a prosperous future.
Your $50/month sponsorship will:
- Provide teacher and administrative staff salaries
- Ensure that educational standards are met through registration and testing
- Equip teachers with quality curriculum
- Provide school supplies for students
As a sponsor you will be matched with an elementary or middle student based on current need.
VOLUNTEERIn addition to volunteering in Honduras and Nicaragua through mission trips, HOI occasionally is in need of volunteers in our Tucker, Georgia, office. Volunteers can help through performing administrative tasks or volunteering at a fundraising event. To learn more about stateside volunteer opportunities, please contact Louis Deas.
IN-KIND DONATIONSWe are looking for new or gently used laptop computers (P4 processors or newer) for use in the U.S. and Honduras to equip our staff to perform to their fullest. We also seek external hard drives (60 – 320Gb+) for backing up data with the many power outages, and thumb/flash drives of all sizes to share data within our departments.
