Construction on the first clinic in Los Robles, Nicaragua began in August 2013 with the help of HOI’s first mission team to Nicaragua. The clinic is the result of a collaboration between the community of Los Robles, HOI, and HOI partners Comunidad Connect and Emory University Goizueta Business School of Social Enterprise. It was completed in late March and opened with a health fair and dedication attended by nearly 200 community members. It will be staffed by two nurses who will serve the entire village of Los Robles.
HOI’s Nicaragua Country Director Jon Thompson was responsible for coordinating much of the clinic’s design and construction and was recognized for his role at the clinic’s dedication on Friday, March 28th. Comunidad Connect, HOI’s community partner in Nicaragua, and Emory University will provide the ongoing operational support for the clinic.
Along with Jon, HOI Board of Directors members Dr. Lee Woodall, a family practice physician, Fran Lewis, RN, and HOI Communication Coordinator Erin Daniel attended the clinic’s dedication on behalf of HOI.
