In his first letter to the Corinthians, the apostle Paul speaks about the gifts given to believers by the Holy Spirit:
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines (1 Corinthians 12:7-11).
In addition to the knowledge of gifts that we are given through the Scriptures, we’re able to witness this truth in our homes, schools, workplaces, churches, and neighborhoods. If we were to take an inventory, we would likely recognize that our friends and neighbors have a wide range of talents that they contribute to our communities. HOI’s Honduras and Nicaragua mission trips provide an opportunity to share our gifts outside of our immediate communities, as well as the chance to witness the ways God is working in and through His people in a different corner of the globe.
It’s our hope that during your mission trips and beyond you are able to use your skills and talents in service to God’s people. Whether you’re a doctor treating patients on a mission trip in Honduras or a videographer shooting a film in Nicaragua, we want to put your gifts to use! Contact us to discuss volunteer opportunities.
