Penny Stovall graduated from Georgia State University in 1967 with a Masters Degree in Education and began her 20 year career at Tucker High School in Dekalb County where she taught history. There she created the Junior Civitan Club, which won the Most Outstanding Club at the international level. The 1997 yearbook was also dedicated to her.
Penny and her husband Graham were honored by the American Heart Association in 1997 with the Gene Cofer Big Heart Award for community service. They raised two sons, Ashley and Brandon. Penny is a member of the Northlake Rotary Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the DeKalb County Junior League. She is also chairperson of the Tucker High School Foundation.
She is a member of Smoke Rise Baptist Church, where she has served on the Finance Committee, the Committee on Committees, and the Mission Support Committee for six years. She now serves as a deacon. Penny has served on the HOI Board since 2001 and has made 12 mission trips to Honduras. Her favorite trips have been in the month of December, when she and her husband visit their special village of Ocatal to bring Christmas gifts to the villagers. After retiring in 2003, she has enjoyed being a grandmother and traveling the world, especially touring our beautiful country in their motor home.
