Randy was one of four sons of Louise and Howard Mahaffey of LaGrange, Georgia. The Mahaffey brothers distinguished themselves as basketball players at LaGrange High School and at Clemson University. Randy was an All- ACC performer as a senior and played four years in the newly established American Basketball Association. He is a member of the Clemson and South Carolina Sports Hall of Fame. Randy was married for thirty years to his high school sweetheart, Diane Daniel, also of LaGrange. They have three children, Lee, Jim and Matt and six grandchildren.

The Mahaffey brothers established and operated Plymarts, Inc. from 1968 to 2008. At its peak the company had revenues on a $400,000,000 pace, had 1100 employees and was ranked the fourteenth largest building supply company in the country. For 2005 and 2006, Plymart was distinguished as one of the “Best Places to Work” among large companies in Georgia.

Randy’s business skills are primarily in leadership, communication, developing strategy and gaining consensus. He has been careful to surround himself with people who have complementary skills.

PMC Building Materials was established in September of 2008. Its primary focus is to serve the remodeling market. Randy has had substantial real estate interests and also served on the board of Enterprise Banking Company in McDonough.

Randy was an active member of Decatur First United Methodist Church for thirty-two years and is now an active member of Dry Pond United Methodist Church in Jefferson, GA. HOI and Young Life in Jackson County and Barrow County are also organizations where Randy commits his time, energy and resources. He resides on his farm in Jackson County and continues to be involved in Honduras and Nicaragua missions through his work with HOI.
