FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Metro Atlanta Based Nonprofit, HOI Inc. Welcomes New Honduran CEO
Local Humanitarian Organization’s Founding CEO Retires, Optimistic About New Leadership
Atlanta, GA: This fall, Jerry Eickhoff will be retiring as the CEO of HOI Inc., a faith based nonprofit with headquarters in Tucker, GA. HOI facilitates service trips for North American teams, including many Atlanta area churches and civic groups, seeking an opportunity to serve globally and assist with sustainable community development in Central America. Eickhoff ends a near thirty-year stint at the helm of the organization that he helped found in 1989 to make way for a new generation of leadership. He looks forward to this transition as he believes it will make way for fresh ideas, new vision, and greater capacity to tackle the issues that confront the poorest regions of Honduras and Nicaragua. He will be succeeded by longtime HOI friend and supporter, Eduardo Chirinos, a citizen of Honduras and the current Acting Director of Economic Development for USAID Honduras. Chirinos will be formally introduced at HOI’s annual fall event, Passing the Torch, set to be held Thursday, October 20 at the Hellenic Center in Atlanta.
Chirinos’ appointment as the new CEO of HOI is a defining moment in the organization’s history. His arrival demonstrates HOI’s ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for Hondurans and Nicaraguans to shape their own futures in partnership with North Americans. On the appointment of Chirinos, outgoing CEO Jerry Eickhoff said, “I think this is a timely transition and one of great importance for HOI, and for the people we partner with in Central America. It speaks to the core of who we are as an organization that we are able to attract a Honduran of Eduardo’s caliber who is committed to serving the people of Central America. Eduardo has the unique perspective and experience required to take this organization on to greater things and I believe that he’s is the right person for the job.” Eickhoff will remain on the Board of Directors and assist with the change in leadership.
