OUR WORK

Strengthening Central American Communities
Through Faith and Partnerships

We are a Christ-centered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on strengthening Central American communities in five key areas: Agriculture, Community Development, Education, Health, and Spiritual Life. Here’s an overview of each program and how you can get involved.

Agricultural Development

HOI’s Agricultural Program helps farmers transition from subsistence to sustainable farming, boosting productivity and food security through hands-on training and veterinary support.

Community Development

HOI partners with local residents in rural Honduras to improve living conditions, building essential infrastructure like latrines and concrete floors, which significantly enhance health and quality of life.

Education

HOI has actively promoted education in the Agalta Valley for nearly 25 years, working with community residents and local governments to build 43 public kindergartens. Staffed by volunteer teachers, these local kindergartens allow children in remote villages to begin learning at an early age.

HOI provides high-quality education through a K-9 school, offering essential resources and practical skills. Our program is an example of excellence, ensuring continuity by not only excelling in our school but also by training local educators to uplift community standards.

Healthcare

HOI’s Medical Program is the primary health provider in Olancho, serving 16,000 patients annually through our four rural clinics. We offer primary care, prenatal and infant services, ultrasounds, vaccinations, dental care, and more. Our efforts have nearly eliminated infant mortality in the Agalta Valley, earning us recognition as one of Honduras’s top five nonprofits. We aim to establish accessible and sustainable healthcare for rural Honduras.

Our Initiatives

  • Clean and Safe Water

Spiritual Life

As a Christ-centered organization, HOI focuses on discipleship and sharing the Gospel. We empower youth, community leaders, and our staff through spiritual growth initiatives, youth clubs, and pastor training. We offer retreats, devotionals, home and prayer visits, and values-based classes at the Hope School to build a strong moral foundation.
